About The Project
Welcome! OBX Photos is an ongoing project by Photographer Rick Anderson that documents the ever changing landscape and scenic beauty of North Carolina’s Outer Banks.
Born and raised in Chesapeake, VA, I first visited the Outer Banks in 1978. While a lot has changed over the years, the scenic and natural beauty continues to be the one constant. It is, after all, what draws so many people to this special place.
As a weather and outdoors enthusiast, life on a barrier island is about as good as it gets. The wind, shifting sands, sunrise, sunsets, and coastal storms are a constant reminder of how connected we all truly are with nature. I invite you to follow the project, as I document the four distinct seasons, and ever changing conditions here on the Outer Banks. My goal is to inspire others to get outdoors, and discover the natural beauty and open spaces that surround us all on here on the Outer Banks.
I currently reside year round in Kill Devil Hills with my wife and two kids, and earn my living as a freelance photographer, web designer, and internet security consultant.
In closing, I would like to thank you for taking the time to follow my work. I am always amazed how many people truly love this special place I call home. If I can ever answer a question please feel free to contact me, I am always available and happy to help!
